Some State and Local governments are help promote the instatlation of rain water tanks at home offering rebates to those who have purchased and installed water tanks. Below are an example of what you can get back

Queensland

State Governent: A rebate of up to $1000 is available or the purchase and installation of
home rainwater storages”

Brisbane City Council:

There are two rebates available depending on what size tank you install. You can recieve a rebate of $500 if rainwater tank/s equal to or more than 3,000 litres. Or you can claim for $750 if your rainwater tank/s equal to or more than 5,000 litres.

Caboolture Shire Council:

Offer for town water area

  • $300 rebate for a rainwater tank, or combination of tanks, with total volume 3,000L or greater
  • $100 rebate for a pump for the rainwater tank system
  • $100 rebate if the tank is connected internally to the house
  • 500 towards the cost of plumbing a rainwater tank/s of 3,000 litres capacity or more, into one or more flushing toilets or laundry fixtures for houses that received development approval before 1 January 2007.

and out of town water

  • $500 rebate is on offer for a rainwater tank, or combination of tanks, with total volume 20,000L or greater. (For an existing home the tank(s) must be in addition to existing tank(s)).
  • $500 towards the cost of plumbing a rainwater tank/s of 3,000 litres capacity or more into one or more flushign toilets or laundry fixtures for houses that received development approval before 1 January 2007.

Gatton Shire Council:

$500 Rebate

Ipswich City Council:

Rebates for rainwater tanks purchased from 1 July 2006 are:

  • * 3,000 - 4,999 litres - $500 rebate
  • * 5,000 litres and over - $750 rebate

Jondaryan Council:

Residents on town water supply who install a minimum tank or tanks of 22,500 litres (5,000 gallons) are eligible for a $250 rebate if the tank is connected for external use only, $350 if also connected to either a toilet, laundry or hot water system, and $550 if connected to all three plus outside taps

Logan City Council

Purchases (including deposits) of rainwater tanks holding 3000 litres or more, until 5pm on December 15, are eligible for Council’s $500 rebate if they are installed and proof of purchase is provided by 30 June 2007. After that date, rebates will only be available from the state government.

Pine Rivers Shire Council

REBATE up to $500 for pumps; plumbing materials and installation costs only - connected to at least one approved# internal device. Plus the plumbing inspection fee of $100 will be waived

Redcliffe Shire Council:

$300 for the purchase and installation of a rain water tank (3000 litres or greater).

Toowoomba Shire

$500 for the installation of rainwater tanks. To be eligible for the rebates, the tanks must have a capacity of at least 5,000 litres, and be connected to at least one toilet cistern or alternatively, to the laundry to supply washing machine; and a garden tap.
